Another early morning wake-up call but this time to breakfast first before leaving the hotel. Once more on the busses, we headed back through Jaipur's streets and north through the hills.
Onto the Amber Fort/Palace in the town of Amber which is now a heritage town with its economy dependent on the large influx of tourists. The narrow streets of the town were full of elephants which are used to ferry tourists up to the fort. As we drove into town we saw them heading up to start work.
There is some controversy around the treatment of the elephants so we made the trip up to the fort in a convoy of jeeps.
Once at the Fort, we entered and saw the wide squares and the gates and temples. Moving up through ramps and steps to higher squares and onto the interior of the palace. Beautiful architecture and amazing views from the ramparts. Piney seemed to enjoy himself.
After the tour of the fabulous complex, we returned to the busses in the jeeps, tipped the drivers and headed off on the drive to Delhi to complete our tour of India's Golden Triangle.
More traffic madness and sheep then back to the first hotel in New Delhi.
Overnight at the Hotel, we had to walk past the main ballroom to get to and from our evening meal. Past the preparations and the early stages of an Indian wedding with all of the flower arrangements and decorations.
We passed on the opportunity for a bicycle rickshaw ride in the afternoon. Not keen to spend another two hours in Delhi traffic and be traumatised by the thought of having to give CPR to an ageing rickshaw driver. We rested up before another meal of Indian potluck.
